Everyone has a secret fantasy about learning pottery, usually inspired by a movie scene involving a wheel, wet clay and questionable posture. At Gasper Arts Center, that fantasy becomes a hands-on reality, where beginners can discover clay and experienced artists can continue developing their craft. For those whose creative interests go beyond pottery, mosaics offer another colorful way to create.
Beginners start with wheel-throwing basics before moving into intermediate classes and workshops. Wheel & Wine turns Friday evenings into pottery with a glass in hand, while Sip-n-Spin brings the same relaxed creative energy to Saturday nights. Mosaic classes offer a different experience, combining color, texture, pattern and design. Open Studio memberships give artists the opportunity to return regularly and work independently, while classes and workshops provide ways to learn new techniques and explore different mediums. Whether someone is sitting at a pottery wheel, building by hand or arranging tile into a mosaic, the goal is to make creativity accessible and fun.
Founder Laura Gasper opened Gasper Arts Center in 2021 with a simple goal: to create “an art studio with an inspiring atmosphere of classes and workspaces for creative artists and art lovers of all skill levels.” Today, the Dania Beach studio has grown into a creative community where people come to learn, experiment and share their work. Monthly art shows give artists opportunities to display their creations rather than letting them disappear onto a shelf at home.
That combination of accessibility, creativity and community helped earn Gasper Arts Center its 2026 Best of Florida Award. For anyone who has watched a pottery scene in a movie and thought, “I want to try that,” there is a place to start. Prefer color and tile to clay? There is room for that, too. Clay is waiting. Tiles are waiting. Wine is optional.
