TLC PetSnip, Inc. is more than just a veterinary clinic—it’s a mission-driven sanctuary for pets in need. Since its establishment in 2013, the organization has performed over 100,000 spay and neuter procedures, addressing the critical issue of pet overpopulation in Polk County and beyond. Founded by Terry Sandlak, TLC PetSnip was born out of a desire to create a facility where pet owners could trust that their animals would receive the best care, regardless of their financial situation.
The recent award, hosted by GuidetoFlorida.com, is a testament to the community’s support and the impact TLC PetSnip has had over the years. The Best of Florida Awards are determined by customer votes, making this recognition even more meaningful. “Our mission has always been to provide high-quality spay/neuter and veterinary care to animals at an affordable cost,” says Marie Herbster, Executive Director of TLC PetSnip. “We believe that no animal should suffer because of the high expense of veterinary care. This award is a wonderful acknowledgment of the work we’ve been doing and the lives we’ve touched.”
One of the most significant milestones for TLC PetSnip was the opening of The Peyton Surgery Center in August 2022. Named in honor of Sandlak’s late mother, LaVerne Peyton, the center has allowed the organization to double its daily capacity, allowing more High-Quality High-Volume surgeons to operate. This expansion has been crucial in meeting the growing demand for affordable pet care in the region.
TLC PetSnip’s journey began with a deep concern for the pet overpopulation crisis and the unnecessary euthanasia that often results from it. Sandlak and her mother envisioned a facility where cost would never be a barrier to responsible pet ownership. Mentored by the ASPCA Spay/Neuter Alliance, TLC PetSnip has become the first non-profit spay/neuter and wellness organization in Polk County, serving over 400 patients weekly through a combination of surgeries, vaccinations, preventative care, and sick appointments.
