Downtown Tampa is trading ordinary weekend plans for cosplay, street food, waterfront views, and anime energy. Anime Matsuri On The Water arrives July 17–19 at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, bringing a three-day Asian anime food and music festival to one of Tampa’s most walkable gathering spots.
Hosted by Mega Night Market, the event mixes international street food, live performances, anime merch, cultural entertainment, cosplay contests, eating competitions, and meet-and-greets with guests who know their way around a fandom.
The setting helps. Curtis Hixon Park sits along the Hillsborough River in the middle of downtown, which means visitors can make a full day of it without needing to build an itinerary worthy of a congressional hearing. Popular creators Raina Huang and Brandon Hurley, known online as “Phúc Mập ,” are also part of the weekend lineup, adding a social-media-meets-food-culture twist that fits the Mega Night Market style.
For families, the event keeps things approachable. Admission is $10, and kids 12 and under get in free, making it an easy summer outing for parents trying to find something more interesting than another lap around the mall.
