Someone Who Actually Listens

Someone Who Actually Listens

Everyone reaches a point where the thing they actually need isn't advice; it's just someone who'll listen without immediately trying to fix it or judge it. A Listening Ear and Open Heart, known to most clients simply as ALE, built an entire practice around that exact need, working with clients from Fort Lauderdale to five other states through telehealth sessions that treat listening as the actual starting point.

Led by Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Life Coach Tahra Sealy, ALE handles trauma-informed therapy across anxiety, depression, life transitions, identity development, and the particular pressure of academic and achievement expectations, with a specialty focus on college-bound and graduate students. The work doesn't stop at the therapy room door. ALE also offers life coaching, anger management counseling, mentorship for young girls, clinical supervision for social work professionals, and even court-ordered parent-child supervised visitation, alongside advocacy work with veterans, foster care families, and LGBTQ+ communities. An online shop rounds things out with affirmation stickers, motivational apparel, and wellness pins, small physical reminders for the days a session doesn't line up with the moment someone actually needs it, the kind of quiet nudge behind a simple phrase the practice keeps coming back to: "Be Gentle with Yourself."

That range and genuine care is exactly what earned A Listening Ear and Open Heart their 2026 Best of Florida Award, recognition for a practice that treats healing as something bigger than a single session. For anyone who's been putting off finding someone to actually talk to, ALE might already be within reach, wherever they happen to be logging in from.
