Second Chances, Twice Over

Some stories about second chances begin with a person saving an animal. This one goes both ways. An Arabian mare named Beauty helped her rescuer find the strength to move forward after a life-changing spinal cord injury. In return, Beauty inspired a mission that has given countless equines their own second chance. Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue, Inc. grew from that bond and from the belief that healing can travel in both directions.

Over the years, Beauty’s Haven has become known for taking on some of the hardest cases: seniors, special-needs equines, and those facing serious medical and rehabilitation challenges. Neglected, abused, and abandoned equines often arrive needing far more than food and shelter. Each is given individualized care with the goal of rescue, rehabilitation, and, whenever possible, rehoming. Those who cannot be adopted have a permanent home at the sanctuary, where they can live out their lives knowing safety, kindness, and love.

In 2026, Beauty’s Haven celebrates 20 years of giving second chances. Through every difficult case and seemingly impossible obstacle, one belief has remained constant: Never Give Up. It is a philosophy reflected in the rescue’s longtime message, “Where Life Begins, Again!” These words have come to represent not only the equines whose lives have been transformed, but the people whose lives they touch as well.

That two-decade commitment helped earn Beauty’s Haven Farm and Equine Rescue the 2026 Best of Florida Award. Twenty years later, success is still measured much the same way it began with Beauty: one life, one difficult case, and one second chance at a time. And often, it is the equines who arrive with the least hope who remind us most powerfully why we should never give up.
