Sandsational Creations Await!
If you’ve ever tried your hand at a beachside sandcastle and watched it crumble before you could even snap a photo, the American Sand Sculpting Championship will make you rethink everything you thought you knew about a bucket and a shovel. From November 20–24, Fort Myers Beach becomes a temporary open-air museum, one made entirely of sand.
Now in its 35th year, the event transforms the shoreline at DiamondHead Beach Resort into a wonderland of larger-than-life sculptures created by some of the world’s best sand artists. We’re not talking about a few towers and a moat. These are jaw-dropping, gallery-worthy pieces that can stand nearly 10 feet tall and take days to craft. Visitors can stroll through the exhibit area, chat with artists as they work, and even watch live demos where the pros spill a few of their best-kept secrets.
What to Expect This Year
- Quick Sand Speed Sculpting Shows – Watch artists race against the clock in a timed showdown that’s part art, part adrenaline.
- Sand Play Zones for Kids – Let the little ones dig in and test their own creative flair with family-friendly sculpting areas.
- Live Music & Food Trucks – From local bands to beachside bites, you’ll find plenty of ways to make a day of it.
- Workshops & Demos – Learn the basics of sand art straight from the masters.
Admission is free on Thursday, and just $5 per person from Friday through Monday, making it one of the most affordable arts events in Southwest Florida. You can get your tickets right here!
Beyond the stunning artistry, what makes this festival special is its community spirit. Locals, visitors, and artists from around the world come together to celebrate creativity in one of the state’s most beautiful natural galleries right on the Gulf.
So bring your sunscreen, grab a cold drink, and prepare to be amazed by what a little sand and a lot of imagination can do.
