Ready to Bag a Bargain?
Black Friday arrives November 27, and Florida shoppers have choices to make. Chase designer discounts at sprawling outlet centers, browse Jacksonville's outdoor shopping district, or slow things down with a waterfront boutique stroll in Naples.
The day after Thanksgiving has earned its reputation for early alarms, crowded parking lots, and shoppers determined to find the best deal. But the state's retail destinations offer different ways to tackle the holiday gift list, depending on whether the goal is maximum savings or a more relaxed afternoon.
In Sunrise, Sawgrass Mills is built for shoppers who mean business. With more than 350 stores, it's the country's largest outlet and value retail shopping destination, bringing designer labels, department stores, and familiar brands together under one enormous roof. Shoppers can browse everything from clothing and accessories to electronics and home goods. Comfortable shoes might be the smartest purchase of the day.
Central Florida bargain hunters have their own shopping heavyweight. Orlando International Premium Outlets, located along International Drive, features more than 180 outlet stores, including Nike, Coach, Michael Kors, and other recognizable names. Its open-air layout offers plenty of territory to cover, making a little advance planning worthwhile for anyone determined to get through the gift list before dinner.
Farther north, Jacksonville's St. Johns Town Center offers a different take on the shopping marathon. The open-air center combines more than 125 stores and restaurants, giving visitors a chance to alternate between hunting for holiday gifts and grabbing a proper meal. Sometimes the best shopping strategy involves sitting down for lunch.
Naples, meanwhile, has a less hurried approach. The Black Friday Stroll & Shop at The Village Shops on Venetian Bay runs November 27–29, featuring special savings at participating boutiques. Shoppers can browse designer fashions, jewelry, accessories, home décor, and gifts while wandering between waterfront storefronts and restaurants.
The Naples event continues through Small Business Saturday, giving independent retailers an opportunity to attract holiday shoppers beyond Friday's traditional rush. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Whether it's a carefully mapped outlet expedition or an afternoon spent browsing boutiques, Black Friday offers plenty of ways to get a head start on December. Just remember to save a little room in the car for the purchases.
