Pick, Grin, & Pass the Gravy!
Thanksgiving in Brooksville is trading the usual holiday soundtrack for banjos, fiddles, and guitars. From November 26–28, the Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival brings three days of music, camping, and a community turkey dinner to Florida Sand Music Ranch.
For anyone whose Thanksgiving plans could use a little less television and a lot more live music, the 2026 Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival offers a different way to spend the long weekend. The gathering combines concerts, camping, food vendors, and an old-fashioned holiday potluck, with plenty of room for families and music lovers to settle in.
Thanksgiving Day brings one of the festival's more neighborly traditions. Campers are invited to a potluck dinner Thursday afternoon, with the turkey provided and guests bringing a side dish or dessert to share. Daily visitors can join the meal for $5, which is considerably easier than roasting a bird and washing every dish in the kitchen afterward.
The setting is part of the appeal. Located at 85 Myers Road in Brooksville, Florida Sand Music Ranch occupies 80 wooded acres between Brooksville and Dade City. Formerly known as Sertoma Youth Ranch, the property hosts music festivals and community gatherings throughout the year, with shaded camping areas, walking paths, and plenty of room to unwind.
Festivalgoers can reserve campsites with 30-amp electrical and water hookups or choose primitive camping for a more rustic experience. Those who would rather sleep in their own beds can purchase single-day admission and enjoy free daily parking.
The music begins Thursday, November 26, with festivities continuing through Saturday evening. Concertgoers should bring lawn chairs, although the organizers have specific seating rules, including restrictions on oversized and rocking chairs. Food, beverage, and craft vendors will be onsite, so nobody has to survive the weekend on leftover cranberry sauce.
Children 12 and younger receive free admission with an adult, and leashed pets are welcome in designated concert areas. Tickets and campsites can be purchased through the festival organizer, Evans Media Source.
The Thanksgiving Bluegrass Festival keeps the holiday's best elements close at hand: shared meals, familiar faces, and an excuse to spend time together. Add a little picking and singing beneath the Florida trees, and the weekend starts sounding pretty good.
