In Florida, summer doesn’t fade quietly—it goes out with a bang! And in Gulfport, that bang means a full day of music, costumes, and all-around good vibes. 

If you’re looking to cap off the season with something a little unexpected and full of personality, Gulfport’s GeckoFest is the place to be. Proudly celebrating its legacy through this year’s theme—”25 Years & Still Weird”—this festival is a must for anyone who loves a good time with a twist. It all goes down on Saturday, August 30, and trust us—you’ve never seen a gecko party like this!

Known as one of the Gulf Coast’s most vibrant street festivals, GeckoFest is totally free and family-friendly, bringing together everyone for a day packed with live music, jaw-dropping performances, art, and plenty of chances to dive into the town’s creative spirit. Throughout the day, you’ll catch performances by aerialists, acrobats, magicians, fire-eaters, dancers, and costumed characters bringing energy and excitement to every corner. And don’t be surprised if you get pulled into the action—this fest is known for interactive acts that blur the line between performer and spectator.

Along the way, explore dozens of local vendors offering handmade art, unique gifts, and plenty of tasty food and drink options that showcase Gulfport’s eclectic style. Local shops, restaurants, and galleries will also be open, so it’s a great time to support small businesses while soaking in the scene.

Costumes are more than welcome—they’re part of the fun. Join the wacky walking parade at 6 p.m., then stick around for a birthday celebration honoring G. Gordon McFly, Gulfport’s beloved gecko statue created by local artist Ray Domingo.

The fun doesn’t stop there. GeckoFest is part of Gecko World, a month-long series of events in Gulfport that includes the Gecko Art Show and Gecko Ball. Proceeds from the festivities benefit local nonprofits like the Tampa Bay Butterfly Foundation, Sonia Plotnick Health Fund, and St. Pete MAD, so every bit of fun supports a good cause.
