Floridians Are Flinging Dead Fish Again!
Only in Florida can throwing a dead fish across state lines be considered a sport. And come April 25-27, thousands will gather at the iconic Flora-Bama Lounge for the annual Interstate Mullet Toss, a Gulf Coast tradition that’s part competition, part beach party, and 100% Florida fun.
What’s the Deal?
Competitors step into a 10-foot ring on the Florida side and hurl a mullet as far as they can into Alabama—no gloves, no sand, just pure tossing power. With divisions for kids and adults, $20 gets you a toss, bragging rights, and a commemorative t-shirt. And this event isn’t just about showing off your arm—proceeds benefit local youth charities, so every throw makes a difference.
Beyond the Toss
The Mullet Toss isn’t just about who can throw a fish the farthest—it’s a full-blown beach party that takes over the Gulf Coast every April. Picture live music, ice-cold drinks, fresh seafood, and crowds soaking up the sunshine. The Flora-Bama’s famous Bushwackers (think boozy milkshake magic) will be flowing, and the atmosphere is always electric. With hotel rooms selling out months in advance, locals know to plan ahead—if you haven’t locked in your spot yet, now’s the time.
