Florida State Parks Reopens William J. 'Billy Joe' Rish Recreation Area in Cape San Blas

As of Jan. 28, 2022, the William J. “Billy Joe” Rish Recreation Area in Cape San Blas is open for day use, according to The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

While access is currently open to the bay and beach areas, more accommodations, such as a swimming pool, are scheduled to open later this year.

The 100-acre park has served people with disabilities and those close to them since the 1970s. It will continue to serve that community now that it has reopened following damage from Hurricane Michael in 2018.

In that time, the park changed ownership from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities to the DEP and is now officially part of the Florida State Parks system.

Park admission is $6 per vehicle of up to 8 people.
