About
Kick off summer with one of Northeast Florida’s favorite family fishing traditions, the 7th Annual Daily’s Old School Kingfish Shootout, presented by Yellowfin, on June 13 at the Vilano Beach Fishing Pier.
One of the largest kingfish tournaments in the world, the Old School Kingfish Shootout is designed for anglers of all ages and experience levels, creating a fun activity the whole family can enjoy. From seasoned fishermen to first-time junior anglers, everyone has an opportunity to compete — and an equal chance to win the tournament’s grand prize: a 21’ Yellowfin Hybrid Boat.
Registration for Lady Anglers and Junior Anglers is free. As part of more than $240,000 in cash and prizes, the Old School Kingfish Shootout features payouts for the Top 10 Lady Anglers and 25 Junior Angler placements - and the top three Junior Lady Anglers. Plus, the first 350 Junior Anglers to register will receive a captain’s bag.
The tournament’s unique rules help keep the competition fair, affordable, and accessible for all participants. Fishing is limited to Florida state waters within three nautical miles from shore, stretching from St. Simons Island to New Smyrna Beach, and live bait penning or purchasing is prohibited.
These rules and tight boundaries level the playing field so that any size vessel and angler can compete. The tournament even has kayaks and jet skis register! That’s why the event is a fan favorite for seasoned anglers, amateurs, ladies and juniors alike.
Whether you’re making memories with the kids, teaching the next generation to fish, or competing with friends, the Old School Kingfish Shootout offers a full day of family-friendly fun on the water.
