About
Creative Liberties Artist Studios, Gallery & Creative Academy was founded in November 2021 by Barbara Gerdeman and Elizabeth Goodwill, two artists and art educators. This venture was launched to empower regional artists with a variety of business services and studio and exhibition opportunities. It is based on a foundation of "artists helping artists".
Creative Liberties is a collective, communal space that provides studio space for local artists. There are also display walls available for non-studio artists to rent. A classroom/community space called the Creative Academy is part of the 2nd location. The business model of having unenclosed studio spaces that are open to the public provides an opportunity for visitors to meet the artists. This also allows for a peek into the artistic process and is beneficial to all parties involved. This creates an interactive gallery experience that is far more exciting and immersive for the viewer than a traditional gallery scenario and allows the artists to forge a relationship with potential collectors.
The third Creative Liberties location offers short term Artist residencies that allow the artists to not only have working space, but also display space. The goal is to utilize it for emerging artists to be able to get experience and exposure as a working artist.
