Central West Florida

With yearly temperatures ranging from 60-81 degrees, it is no wonder the crystal-clear springs of Citrus County in Central West Florida are the largest migration destination for manatees in the world. Freshwater springs are abundant throughout the region, creating both natural and admittedly unique tourist attractions.

Weeki Wachee Springs State Park can be found within the county limits of Hernando which is named for the Spanish explorer Hernando De Soto. The park has Florida’s only spring-fed water park, but the park is better known for its Weeki Wachee mermaid shows. The casted and costumed mermaids of Weeki Wachee are the closest to the real deal you can get, creating a magical experience for visitors of all ages.

St. Petersburg, another must-see, is one of the most visited locations on the Gulf of Mexico. From vibrant street murals to competitive watersports, from shopping at John's Pass Village to the craft beer scene, St. Petersburg and its beaches are a worthy vacation destination.

Beyond the scope of tourism, the St. Petersburg area hosts Florida’s second largest

manufacturing base; in fact, manufacturing is a leading industry for the whole region. The Greater Pasco area specializes in aviation and defense manufacturing and is located close to both United States Central Command and Special Operations Command headquarters.

Among the top employers in the region are Sibex, Incorporated, Technology Conservation Group, Turbine Broach Company, Surge Suppression, Ped-Stuart Corporation, TRU Simulation + Training and Pall Aeropower.

In addition to manufacturing and other industries, the Tampa bay area has several notable means of entertainment. Not one, but three major league teams reside in Tampa, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (NFL), Tampa Bay Lightning (NHL) and Tampa Bay Rays (MLB). The popular amusement park and zoo, Busch Gardens, is located in Tampa, and the area has made a name for itself as the “Cigar Capital of the World.”

Perfect for sports fans, trendy young adults and even retirees looking for a slow-down, Central West Florida has you covered.
