Central East Florida

The roar of Ford, Chevy and Toyota engines as they snake around an oblong track at seriously high speeds can only mean one thing. NASCAR. If you’re visiting Central East Florida, it’s time to buckle up and enjoy the show, NASCAR’s Daytona 500, that is.

In addition to the infamous Daytona 500,  the International Speedway Corporation, Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) and U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) have all chosen to lay down roots at Daytona Beach.

Outside of Daytona, the region continues to attract sports businesses and teams. Take to the greens and show off your best swing at Port St. Lucie’s PGA Village, or drop by the New York Mets’ spring training to see where home runs are made.

Want a better view of the Atlantic Coast? This is the perfect place to find a view by plane. Home to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Skyborne Airline Academy, in Central East Florida, pilots aren’t in short supply. Neither are the aircrafts. Key to the industry of the region are aircraft manufacturers and related security and technology fields.

Find aircraft manufacturers like Piper Aircraft, Bede Aircraft, Atlantic Precision and Norhthrop Grumman, or look to Hog Technologies and Harris Corporation for infrastructure and communications solutions.

Study at Bethune-Cookman University, Stetson University, Daytona College or Daytona State College, or head to the “Research Coast,” between the Max Planck Institute and Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies for the latest education in life sciences.

One of the most unique assets in Central East Florida is the Kennedy Space Center. Formed in 1962, the center actively participated in launch operations for Apollo, Skylab and Space Shuttle programs, including the famous launch of Apollo 11 in 1969. The center is also responsible for the nickname, “The Space coast,” that is associated with the area, and today, the center has a visitor complex complete with exhibits, tours and memorabilia. Ready for blastoff!
