William R. Gaines Jr. Veteran Memorial Fund

We are developing a public park and memorial to honor those killed in the Beirut bombing on 23 October 1983. The Port Charlotte, Florida park was recently renamed in memory of William R. Gaines, Jr., a local Marine who perished in the tragedy.

Located on a small peninsula jutting out into Charlotte Harbor, this 40 acre park is a public and private project designed to become a destination where multiple generations can be outdoors together.

New amenities to include an observation tower, pavilion, and nature trail.
