About

My specialty is my diversity! My students learn classical techniques and music theory in addition to professional and contemporary musical theater practices, healthy belting practices essential for musical theater performers, and audition and performance essentials!  They learn to expand and use their whole vocal range and how to most effectively transition between “voices”, increase the quality and power of their “voices”, as well as learn and understand what they are looking at on the musical score.  My students experience a challenging yet fun and energetic lesson environment!

My students are required to prepare performance resumes and learn to market themselves in the competitive performing arts arena.  They are taught to maintain a vast and various record of their repertoire that can be polished at a moment’s notice for any variety of performance styles from sacred to secular, foreign language to musical theater, and pop to rock.  They also prepare for last minute opportunities and auditions so that they are never caught off guard and are always ready to seize a chance to use their talents!

My students often use their sessions for acting or improv coaching, and monologue preparation.  They will also use my service and their time to prepare for advanced music theory exams for band and orchestra.

My student’s talents (Voice, Piano, and Acting) are showcased biannually at elaborate recitals that feature them as soloists and also require that they perform complex choral pieces with other students from my studio.  In addition to recitals, Mariah’s students are often asked to perform with me or solo at other venues and events in the area.

I assist my students by reaching out to the local network of music, drama, and administrative staff at our local schools and arts programs in order to stay abreast of opportunities in the area and I assist my students in applying for those opportunities and provide letters of recommendation when appropriate.
