Charlotte Towne is a South Florida–based intellectual property and entertainment attorney whose practice focuses on trademarks, copyrights, contracts, and litigation. She represents artists, performers, influencers, and brands.

A University of Miami graduate with a background in Music Business, Charlotte earned her law degree from Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad College of Law, whereshe served as President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society and founded the symposium that continues today.

Charlotte has built a reputation for advising clients in the entertainment and digital space on ownership, rights, and deal structure across complex transactions and disputes. Her work frequently involves navigating disputes over master recordings, songwriter splits, trademark rights, publicity rights, copyrights, and brand control, helping clients establish leverage and protect their interests.

Her practice includes federal copyright and trademark litigation, as well as trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings. She develops strategy around likelihood of confusion, descriptiveness refusals, and enforcement, and advises on brand protection issues tied to e-commerce and unauthorized distribution.

Charlotte speaks at multiple conferences for lawyers and industry professionals per year around the country and internationally, sharing insight on the evolving landscape of intellectual property, entertainment, and AI.

She previously served on the executive board of the Florida Bar’s Entertainment, Arts & Sports Law Section, including as Chair.

In addition to her legal practice, Charlotte is the creator of The Mermaid Lawyer®, a brand she uses to translate legal concepts into bold, visual content. The persona reflects her background as a lifelong performer and her connection to the water, which she incorporates into her content and storytelling.

Outside of her practice, Charlotte is a mother of two, fully embracing her role as a dance mom, and performs professionally as a mermaid at underwater venues and high-profile events.
