About

What might seem like a simple real estate purchase and small business venture, actually has story that begins on a small New York farm with pit stops in sunny Pensacola and Afghanistan.  The Hangar story was created on the frustrations of the corporate world and the dangers of enemy fire in combat.  In October of 2017 Robert Preston a local real estate investor and USMC Pilot was stationed at NAS Whiting field.  He partnered with Jessica his mother and longtime manager of Olive Garden, to purchase the iconic Milton restaurant: Nichol's Seafood.  Robert saw an opportunity to bring to life a new concept that matches Milton's long time history of aviation and military support.

One of the critical pieces to the puzzle was who would run and manage the restaurant?  Fortunately, Robert didn't have to look far for help.  His mother had started in the restaurant business at the age of 14.  Jessica worked mom and pop restaurants during highschool and college.  Jessica developed her own catering service in western NY before moving to SC.  Jessica worked Corp restaurants in SC and GA for 21 as a manager and general manager years gaining great experience and knowledge.  Jessica had dreamed and set a goal to one day own and develop her own restaurant.  The years working for corporate culture and lack of control over schedules and personal lives lead to Jessica fulfilling her dream.  The family business could focus on customer service and building relationships with the community.  They never thought that the American dream of restaurant ownership would lead them to the small but growing town of Milton, Florida.

After completing two tours in Afghanistan as an MV-ww Pilot in the USMC and countless sleepless nights.  Robert decided that he needed to make some life decisions.  The first was to follow Jesus, the second was to marry his childhood sweetheart Misty.  The newly married couple was transferred by the Marine Corps Camp Lejeune to NAS Whiting field in 2013.  In the beginning Robert and Misty never thought they would own a restaurant.

Robert and Misty decided that they'd take the risk of buying a restaurant in the hopes of bringing it back to life and creating jobs for the community.  Equally important to Robert was the opportunity to give his Mother her lifelong dream of owning her own restaurant.  He had watched her work herself to the bone for "the man" in the corporate system for little to no rewards.  Robert knew that is mother could take her experience from the national brands and combine her passion for customer service with the nostalgia of aviation, the family is happy to present The Hangar restaurant.
