Hi, I’m Erika, and I’m passionate about the joy that cakes bring to celebrations. One of the things I remember about my childhood is how we gathered at my grandparent’s family table back in Venezuela to share stories while scooping pieces of the best desserts baked by my grandmother. Dessert time was always the most awaited one, so I grew up believing that even though sugar and desserts might not be the best food for the body, they are indeed the best food for the soul. A good dessert will always make you a little happier than you were before.  

Three years ago, I founded Cakeology, a home-based online bakery that specializes in artisan, layered naked cakes crafted using only the finest ingredients and long-life family recipes from my grandmother. 

I realized that in a hectic city like Miami, people don’t usually have the time, or the skill, to bake for their loved ones, but they are tired of celebrating with dry or stale cakes. So I wanted to bring them flavors that reminded them of their childhood and their Latin American countries. Some of our flavors include, marble cake, tiramisu, pavlovas, strawberry shortcake and garrapinado. All cakes come in three different sizes. And even though my focus has always been on flavor over appearance, it turns out people love the boho, relaxed and minimalistic look. Cakes can be locally delivered through uber package or picked up at my location in downtown Miami

Over the past three years, I’ve grown Cakeology with hard work and the entrepreneurial skills I learned at the University of Florida. My business background has allowed me to create a profitable product,brand awareness, enhance customer satisfaction, and optimize the manufacturing process for efficiency.

Thanks to this standard process, I have a very low turnaround time and consistency in flavor, which are my key differentiations. I have more than 100 5-star reviews on google. I have received excellent feedback from the Miami foodie community, such as Timeout Miami, Miami Food Porn, Miami New Times, ChatChow, and others. I have successfully participated in the SOBEWFF, and recently won  2nd best dessert and 2nd best cupcake in town in a Miami Herald’s initiative called Miami’s Favorites.
