Kathleen Area Historical Society Heritage Park

Established in 1991, the mission of the Kathleen Area Historical Society is to document, preserve and promote local history of eight northwest Polk County communities.  The Society is headquartered at Heritage Park, an eight-acre park located at 8950 N. Campbell Road in the historic Socrum community.  

The Society accomplishes our mission in a variety of ways, including annual fairs and festivals which focus on the agricultural heritage of the eight areas (citrus, strawberries, cattle, sugar cane grinding and syrup making), a Headstone & History program with tour and cleaning of headstones at local cemeteries, collecting and sharing historic photos, research and sharing of stories in quarterly newsletters, hosting guest speakers on topics of local history, installation of historical markers, and educating the public about local history.

The Society is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization.
