My name is Shawnda Burns, LMHC, CAP,(Licensed Mental Health Counselor/Certified Addiction Professional) amd I have over two decades of counseling experience providing individual and family counseling in various environments and populations. I am the founder and owner of West Broward Counseling Center since 2007.  I am compassionate, empathetic and committed to helping my clients identify their particular needs, set goals, and develop the skills needed to achieve them. I have excellent listening and critical thinking skills, which allows me to connect to people and provide a new perspective on the different challenges they face in their lives. Specializing in a broad ranges of areas, from adolescent to adult relationship. I truly enjoy what I do and it is evident to those I treat. I believe the client/counselor relationship is so important to the success of your treatment. I create a non-judgmental environment where you can feel comfortable without fear of judgement or stigma. I believe that change is possible at any age.

My clients come to me to gain insight about themselves and their problems and to acquire better tools to deal with them. My approach uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), empowerment, personal strengths, insight and humor to assist you in making positive life choices. My journey in this field is not just a profession; it's a personal commitment to helping individuals and families navigate their toughest challenges.
