Home Care: When assistance becomes necessary, many elderly adults prefer to stay in the familiar surroundings of their own homes or current places of residence rather than move into assisted living facilities or nursing homes. Finnish American Home Care offers you the opportunity to age in place with the benefits and comfort of your own home.

Finnish-American Home Care provides staff for a wide range of high-quality services for those who are recuperating from trauma or injury, or those in need of permanent assistance due to a disability. Our team of Personal Care Attendants (PCAs), Home Health Aides (HHAs), Certified Nurse’s Assistants (CNAs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Registered Nurses (RNs), Companions and Homemakers offer assistance in completing the tasks of daily living which may otherwise be too difficult to manage on your own.

Finnish American Home Care is a licensed Nurse Registry that provides a full range of nursing services, personal care, live-in aides and full or part time companions/homemaker aides. We pride ourselves on catering to specific needs and customizing care for our clients.

Assisted Living Facility: “Where you feel at home.” That summarizes the feeling you get when you enter our doors and are met by our residents who are drawn to our social meet-and-greet-hub, the lobby. Assisted Living is available for those who wish to live actively and independently in a comfortable residential setting, with added care and assistance for daily tasks as needed. Our Assisted Living facility offers assistance with activities of daily living such as dressing and grooming with 24-hour oversight from licensed professionals and Extended Congregate Care offering additional services and support.

Skilled Nursing Facility: We take pride in providing our guests with the highest quality, comprehensive, Skilled Nursing, and Rehabilitative Care, uniquely catered to individual needs and abilities. You will receive top-tier medical support from our specialty practitioners, therapists, nurses and staff, who are focused on providing you with the skillful care and therapy you need to get you back to your highest level of function. Whether you are recovering from surgery, a serious illness or making decisions regarding long term care, our medical services are dedicated to your health and well-being, with round-the-clock nursing care tailored to your unique needs.

How We Got Started

In the late 1950s, two Finnish-American men, Ed Jarvi and Dr. Aarne Suominen, envisioned a facility where older Finnish immigrants could live comfortably in a familiar environment. At the same time, two Finnish radio announcers encouraged their listeners to visit local hospitals and nursing homes, and bring traditional "pulla" and coffee, which further highlighted the need for such a facility.

On October 21, 1970, a community meeting was held, and the idea of the Finnish American Rest Home was born, starting with a $75 donation. Over the years, the facility expanded to offer three levels of care: Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Assisted Living, and Home Care. The Finnish American Village now serves people of all nationalities while preserving Finnish culture and traditions. Recognized by CMS as a 5-Star Facility and by FALA as a Deficiency-Free Facility, the Finnish American Village continues to dedicate themselves to an unwavering standard of quality care.
