Born in Queens, New York, and relocated to Florida in 2007, Monica “Tamu” Spivey has always possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and dreamed of one day owning a restaurant or food business that would bring joy to others.

Monica’s fascination with cupcakes began in an unexpected way — through a dream. In the dream, she created a decadent Cookies N’ Cream cupcake and a Caramel Apple Pie cupcake. She woke up inspired, excited, and determined to bring her vision to life. She baked her creations from scratch, packed them into a small cupcake carrier, and brought them to work, where they received rave reviews.

What started as a dream and passion project blossomed into Tamu Cupcakery, an award-winning, from-scratch bakery proudly serving Southwest Florida since 2016.

Known for bold flavors, creativity, and quality, Tamu Cupcakery specializes in custom cakes, gourmet cupcakes, cheesecakes, pies, cookies, brownies, dessert catering, edible bouquets, dessert tables, chocolate-covered treats, homemade ice cream, smoothies, specialty drinks, and specialty dietary desserts including vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free, and eggless options.

With 75+ flavor creations and a commitment to using quality ingredients, Tamu Cupcakery has become known for transforming desserts into memorable experiences for birthdays, weddings, corporate events, holidays, and everyday celebrations.

In 2024, Tamu Cupcakery proudly earned recognition as a Guide to Florida – Best of Florida Winner in the Bakery Category, standing alongside some of Florida’s top bakeries.

Beyond baking, Monica is also an author and creative entrepreneur. In 2026, she released her children’s coloring book, TamTam’s Sweet Dreams: A Little Girl with a Big Dream, inspired by dreams, entrepreneurship, creativity, and believing in yourself. The book reflects Monica’s mission of inspiring children and families to dream big, embrace creativity, and pursue their passions.
