Florida Academy of Performing Arts

The Florida Academy of Performing Arts is committed to providing extraordinary theatre experiences that educate and challenge along with inspiring students and our surrounding communities. FAOPA fosters self-discovery, creativity, confidence, group responsibility, and pride in accomplishment. FAOPA celebrates the professional artistic disciplines of music, dance, and the visual arts. FAOPA strives to be a model of excellence in theatre for all our audiences.

Florida Academy offers numerous programs at different levels in order to encourage personal growth and to work collectively to produce productions that allow our students the opportunity to reach a new level of competence, self-esteem, and confidence. We offer programs for all experience levels which start at kindergarten through adult. We have 4 school group level programs (K-3rd, 3rd-8th, middle, and high school); an audition only group - Spotlight Theatre - which goes through adult; a LEAD - Letting Eager Actors Direct program; and two competition teams. The growth in all these opportunities, participation, and experience has exceed our expectations. Our competition teams have competed in several competitions: Junior Theatre Festival, National Performing Arts Festival, Access Broadway, and Musical Theatre Competitions of America. Our teams brought home awards in Excellence in Music, Excellence in Ensemble, Excellence in Acting, All-Star Performers and Tech Students, Outstanding Performance Individuals, Grand Champions, Sweepstakes, High Gold Medals, Gold Medals, Platinum Medals, and received and attended Special Theatre Projects in New York City. Most recently, FAOPA has been invited to participate in a NYC concert of Stephen Schwartz and John Caird's Children of Eden at Lincoln Center in February 2024; and again in February 2025 with Anastasia.
