Diana works with individual inventors, startups, and closely held business entities to build, protect, and leverage a robust intellectual property portfolio comprising patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade dress, and trade secrets.
Diana has worked on every aspect of intellectual property law--application preparation and prosecution; domain name disputes; plaintiff and defense representation before state, federal, and appellate courts; representation before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board; and leading and negotiating complex commercial transactions of closely held companies.
Because Mederos Legal is half STEM, half law, all business, Diana handles complex commercial transactions, tech transfers, licensing, international business transactions, and general small business law on a daily basis.
Diana's tech background is in the biological and chemical sciences, but Diana has assisted inventors in protecting everything from renewable energy, children's toys, complex industrial machinery, construction materials, medical devices and diagnostics, hemp-related inventions, cosmetics, alcoholic beverages, fashion and jewelry, and computer hardware-software architectures.
In addition to her Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, Diana has a B.Sc. in Biology and Environmental Science and a M.Sc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
While at the University of Florida, Diana worked as a research assistant in an immunology laboratory and in a nuclear magnetic resonance laboratory where she researched the relative in vitro stimulatory effect of mutant and wild-type isolated lipoteichoic acid and comparative metabolic profiling with the use of carbon 13 and proton NMR probes.
Diana's undergraduate honors thesis research at Texas A&M International University was on sediment toxicity, invasive species eradication methods, streamflow hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, historical watershed mapping with geographic information systems, and water quality analyses based on biogeochemical parameters.
